It comes as no surprise that The Bachelor’s Catherine Lowe was the host of a Simon G. Jewelry event at Diamond Doctor last week. After all, the reality TV star said “yes” in one of the most dramatic rose ceremonies ever when Bachelor Sean Lowe presented her with the final rose and a gorgeous 3.15-carat diamond ring. After marrying Sean in front of millions of people live on national television, the reality TV couple settled in Dallas, just celebrated their second wedding anniversary, and are now expecting a baby. D Weddings‘ Krista Wheeler sat down with Catherine to get the inside scoop on her favorite Valentine’s Day picks, the jewelry that represents her “grown sexy” wedding theme, and more.
Krista Wheeler: What do you like about Simon G. Jewelry and how did you get involved with this event?
Catherine Lowe: I love Simon G. because of the beautiful products they have. They reached out because of my love for love and beautiful jewelry.
K: Happy anniversary! If you could pick anything here for Sean for your anniversary, what would it be?
C: He is a necklace person. I would probably get him a cool necklace from here that really reached out and spoke to me.`
K: What are your favorite jewelry picks for Valentine’s Day?
C: I think for Valentine’s Day you can go either way depending on the lady because that’s what it is about. For me, I would lean to something simpler because I want to have it forever and wear it a lot. So, a top pick is a sweet ring that doesn’t necessarily scream bridal.
Also, there are really pretty bracelets that are super trendy with open cuffs in gold or rose gold. A set of earrings—like really nice studs—are always nice because they are what woman are always going to wear. I like things that will last a really long time and are going to be timeless.
K: Do you have any advice on choosing an engagement ring?
C: I think the engagement ring is supposed to be for the woman. What’s funny about The Bachelor is all of the engagement rings (although the woman are very, very different) are very similar. Maybe because of the men who chose them? I think thinking about the woman is important to think about. Where is she going to wear it? Is she going to wear it every day or is it going to be something she just wears on special occasions after the wedding? If she’s unique maybe bring in different colored stones.
K: You chose a “grown sexy” theme for your wedding to Sean. What kind of jewelry would you pick for that particular wedding theme.
C: Any jewelry that has a subtle sex appeal to it is what “grown sexy” is to me. For instance, this beautiful bracelet I have on: it is full of diamonds, but it is also very dainty so it looks really good on your wrist and your arm. But it’s snaky, so it molds with you and reminds me of a woman’s body.
Krista also sat down with Megan Schachtebeck, Simon G. Jewelry’s PR representative, to learn more about the line.
K: What is the inspiration behind Simon G. Jewelry?
Megan Schachtebeck: They started out really focused on bridal and they started expanding into the fashion world. They’ve made really fun stuff for the modern woman. Their focus is to have a piece for the fashion girl and a piece for the more traditional, so they have a little bit of something for everybody.
K: Who are the designs made for? Who is the Simon G. customer?
M: Everyone wears it! We all have such different taste, I could go in and find something that is beautiful. I like super thin bands while someone else likes sparkly, bulky jewelry. They have both, so you could walk into a store and find something that really works for you.
K: What would you say makes Simon G. Jewelry special and unique?
M: It is family owned and operated. It makes it a special environment and everything is hand- crafted. They make sure every piece that comes into the collection is something that they would want to wear and keep for life and pass it down to generations.
