Kelly and Jack met while studying art at Southern Methodist University. Both are passionate about the subject: he is an artist in Dallas and she works for the Dallas Art Fair. The two always had a crush on one another while in college, but the timing was never right to take it a step further. However, after graduating, Jack and Kelly knew that this time, it felt right. They spent their first few months road tripping and spending every minute together and it wasn’t long before they knew they were meant to be. Shortly after making it official, Jack planned a surprise proposal in Santa Fe: he got down on one knee under the stars while hiking the Atalaya Trail with Kelly. The special Southwestern town would end up the backdrop for their destination wedding on July 4, 2015.

Kelly and Jack wanted the wedding to have a whimsical aesthetic while also remaining classic. They chose the historic San Miguel Mission—a Spanish chapel said to be the oldest church in the United States—for the ceremony. Simple floral arrangements and neutral decor perfectly accented the church’s 17th-century artworks, adobe walls, and wooden beams. After saying their vows, Kelly recalls: “Walking back down the aisle as a married couple was the best feeling ever.”

After the intimate ceremony, guests enjoyed a mariachi band, margaritas, and Southwestern cuisine at The Compound.
