Stacy and James met on dating app Tinder. When they realized they had a mutual friend, they planned to meet up at the now defunct bar Three Sheets with their groups of friends. The couple instantly clicked and the conversation easily flowed. They even outlasted their friends until they were the only two who remained. Not wanting the night to end, the pair decided to go to Social House where James asked Stacy to join him for brunch the next day.
During the Christmas holiday, James and Stacy set off for a three-week vacation to Southeast Asia. They spent New Year’s Eve in Chiang Mai, Thailand; the perfect place to propose. Engaging in the tradition of lighting a lantern as they entered in the new year, Stacy and James lit three lanterns and James insisted they save the fourth for the midnight countdown. When the countdown started and the sky began to fill with thousands of glowing orange lanterns, they lit the last one together and James let go so it was only Stacy who was still holding on. As she released it into the air and her eyes came back to earth, Stacy realized she did not know where James was. After calling his name, she finally turned around to discover him on one knee behind her with the ring in his hand. She happily accepted to be his wife and they tightly embraced one another as fireworks began in the background in the lantern-filled sky.
Stacy attended Southern Methodist University for undergraduate and graduate school where she studied accounting. She works as a CPA for Rosewood Management Corporation. James attended Texas Christian University and is currently attending SMU for his MBA. He will work for Amazon upon graduation. The couple will marry Friday, June 3, 2016, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
