The first time Lilly laid eyes on Douglas was when she was late for a work meeting. Most of the seating was taken, so she sat in an empty seat in the front of the room next to Doug. She never thought she would run into him again, but a few months later Lilly changed positions and transferred bank branches. She was sitting in the lobby talking to the manager and noticed Doug sliding across the lobby in his shoes. (She thinks he was trying to impress her, but he will never admit to that.) After she started her new job, Lilly agreed to meet Doug for happy hour at Blue Goose. She spilled not one, but two drinks on Doug. Luckily it didn’t turn him off and they went on to date for six years.
After five years of dating, Lilly was convinced that an engagement was never going to happen. The Friday before her and Doug’s vacation to Punta Cana, Doug was bugging Lilly all week about what time she would be home. Her answer: after her personal training session at 6:00 p.m. She was ready earlier than usual, so she decided to stop by the house to grab a few things before her work out. She pulled up and saw Doug’s car, but she didn’t think much of it. As she opened the garage door, there were rose petals on the floor. (She immediately blamed her dog.) Then, it hit her. She had ruined Doug’s surprise. Doug saw her standing in the house and asked her to go back outside and handed her a card. She followed the trail of roses to a few puzzles that led her to Doug where he was waiting on one knee. The happy couple celebrated their engagement in the Dominican.
Lilly attended Texas State University and graduated with a degree in psychology. She is Marketing Director for Ivy Hill Home. Doug went to The University of Arkansas and graduated with a degree in business. He is Relationship Banking Officer at Frost Bank. The couple will marry April 4, 2015 at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie.
