Anna Dillard & Adam Cowdin

Anna and Adam met at a public pool. Both were attending different birthday parties but ended up sitting next to each other on the edge of the pool. Once they started chatting, two hours had passed and they decided on a first date: They went sailing on White Rock lake. For the proposal, Adam hired a string quartet to hide in his backyard and he proposed on his front porch. His friends were there to film the surprise.

The couple chose the Dallas Arboretum for the special place it holds in Anna’s heart. Her mother passed away when she was young, and her mother’s friends renovated and dedicated a garden at the Arboretum for her. She got married next to the special garden and all the guests walked through on the way to the ceremony. “There’s a beautiful statue of two little girls and a stone engraved with her and our names. It was very special,” says Anna.

Because they chose a December wedding date and they were getting married outside, they chose bright and summery flowers to  “warm” up the December chill. And, since it was New Year’s Eve, they dressed up the night with sparkles and glamour. Her bridesmaids wore vintage fur coats and her house party donned sparkly gold dresses. She hand made 200 confetti poppers for midnight and had a balloon drop.
